Tips
All students are required to sign an "Acceptable Use Policy"
sheet in order to access the school network and internet. Students
in violation of this policy will have their computer privileges
revoked immediately regardless of registration in computer courses.
Everyone has a LOGIN I.D. on the network, whether
you are taking a computer course right now, or not. The login i.d.
consists of: your 1st 3 initials of last name, immediately followed
by 1st 3 initials of first name. (ie. chrjea for Jean Chretien)
Keep your Password private: See one of the computer
teachers if you have problems with your password.
Always check your disk(s) for viruses! Doubleclick
on Yellow C icon, in bottom right corner of computer screen. Tell
a computer teacher (and your own teacher) when/what you found.
To LOGOUT, at the end of a period:
- left click the START button, Choose SHUT DOWN
- Choose Login as another User
- Turn off monitor only. Logout completely at end of the day.
Internet Use
Check out the announcements and information sheets in the labs
about using the Internet. It is a privilege, use it properly. Practice
"netiquette".
Save your work frequently! Always try to save your work on your
floppy disk in drive A: The network disk to temporarily save larger
files is U:. Do not save files to C:
How To Delete Unwanted Files:
- Right Click on the START button, Choose Explorer
- Click on the drive, folder, file that you want to delete.
- If you are sure it is the right file, press the delete key.
Always verify that your printer is correct.
Check under your Print Setup box in your program (ie. WordPerfect)
and be sure that the printer name in the box is identical to the
actual printer your computer is connected to! Most common printer
in the building right now is HP69xC DeskJet.
Follow Appropriate Use Policy at all times.
