| Kristen Luinstra, a grade nine student at Sacred Heart High School, placed second at the Lions Club Provincial Public Speaking Contest held in Toronto on May 2nd, 2009. Kristen was part of the English Intermediate division and was awarded a certificate, plaque and a gift of money for her achievements. Congratulations Kristen! |

| Sacred Heart Speech Contest winners Kristen Luinstra and Aletta Schurter have won school, local Legion and local Lions Club Public Speaking Contests for the 2008-09 school year. Olivia Fischer also placed second at the Provincial level in 2009! Way to go! |
| At the Regional Lion's Club Public Speaking Contest three
Sacred Heart ladies captured second place finishes and have
qualified to advance to the Lion's District Competition on
April 7, 2008. Gillian Fischer was 2nd in
Senior English, Laurel
Hoffarth was 2nd in Senior French and Courtney
Hicks was 2nd in Intermediate English. They have
all advanced to
the district event for the Lions Club contest.

Public
Speakers Win Competitions |
Congratulations to four Sacred Heart students who have
been competing in the 2007 Legion and Lion’s Club Public
Speaking competitions in the region. Senior students
Megan Wendorf and John Inglis competed in both the
Lions and Legion events while grade 9 students Sarah
Johnson and Emmaline Morin competed in the Legion
Events.
Sarah Johnson earned first place at the
local, and then the regional, Lion’s Club Public Speaking
Competition (competitors from Goderich up through Tobermory and
over to Grand Valley). Sarah advanced to
represent this district and SHHS at the Provincial
Competition in Toronto and captured the Provincial
Bronze Medal.
Way to go Sarah!
Megan Wendorf won the local and next
level competitions at both the Legion and Lions Club events, performing very
well at all events. In all, she represented Sacred Heart
at 5 events.
John Inglis performed well at four competitions,
usually finishing just behind Meg. Way to go! Emmaline
Morin was runner up at her Lions Club competition. Congratulations
to each of you and we encourage you to keep developing this
awesome skill. |
