On October 26 and 27, 2009 almost 100 students from Sacred Heart High School took part in a World War One Re-enactment day. The goal of the day was to allow students experience, in some small measure, the struggles and hardships that Canadian Expeditionary Force members endured. Students were divided into various sections that had to complete a series of tasks. Tasks included preparing a meal, erecting a shelter, constructing antipersonnel entanglements and digging trenches. The afternoon session saw students engaged in re-enacting the battles of Ypres, Beaumont Hamel and Vimy Ridge. The weather cooperated with drizzle and cool winds. |
